Recycling ghost fish nets and ocean plastic waste
Young scientist Anna Koziol, a materials engineering student from Poland and an Erasmus student at Norwegian University of Science and Technology, has asked AQUEIS for assistance in sourcing materials from the Mediterranean Sea for her master's thesis, "Recycling ghost fish nets and ocean plastic waste." She has done recycling experiments and found that two of the three materials proposed in the thesis show good potential for future development as well as use by various industries. Future development of these composites should include additional testing and detailed investigations for their potential use. For more information, see the thesis abstract. She will also publish her results soon. Anna will continue her work as a PhD student in October 2023. We look forward to seeing more results!
